1984: Trying to be Loyal above The Rebellious Heart

1984 in Great Britain was a year full of dictatorships. A country led by Big Brother with all the coercing rules. Various forms of data and facts manipulation launched under the pretext of revolution. Many people said that life after the industrial revolution was better than before. However, in reality there’s still many human rights injustices. Restricted freedom of opinion, lack of individual protection, limited access to information, and much more became a long list of injustices in the country.

There lived a man about 40 years old who flared up between his heart, mind and actions, named Winston Smith. Along his life, Winston tried to became a good citizen by obeying every Party's rules. Even though deep in his deepest heart there’s antipathy towards the dictatorship of his country. Yes, the scenario of dictatorship by the Party, under the guise of The Big Brother, an Britain dictator who respected by Party’s fanatics.

Big Brother’s Watching You

There’s still many people who had never seen The Big Brother in real life. Only through giant posters on the big walls in the corners of the city. The expressionless flat face seemed to oversee the people not to act things that harmed the Party. While ordinary people or proliter prefer neutral. From the prol people there’s some thought-out criminals who refused the dictatorship of the ruler. Even so, Winston was also a member of the Party in opposing the state dictatorship. But only limited to the turmoil of the heart, did not dare to fight openly.

That was no longer surprising, because the mind police, telescreen and hidden microphones make privacy just like fantasy. The mind police as if they knew what we were really thinking. Even an irregular breath, the mind police could be suspected as an attempt to oppose The Big Brother and The Party that was hidden. The telescreen and hidden microphone make our movements limited, wherever and whenever. A two-way communication tool that’s able to record audio-visual and respond through different places. The telescreen can be hidden behind paintings, grass, even the toilet.

How bad, sometimes the history was rewritten according to the will of the Party. The truth that should be a fact, easily manipulated. Not only manipulated, but until eliminated as if it never existed, regardless aspects of democracy and people's opinions. In another words, sometimes people are lied by their own country.

In Great Britain, precisely in 1984 was a sharp satire, a form of neat dictatorship. In it presents an overview about collapse of the totalitarian society’s life. Which the movement of each citizen studied by the method according to the Party's decision. Every word spoken was tapped, every act was limited, and every thought was controlled. In fact, if caught doing things which was likely to be detrimental the Party in the future, will be tried without justice. Until now, a 1984 book by George Orwell led him to the peak of fame. It’s also an important creation as a reference material for his next book.
